The plasma arc is made prior to contact with the metal (pilot arc) and then you just touch down and start cutting....its that EASY! Rapid cutting without buckling or distortion can be achieved on mild steel up to 6mm thick with a super clean cut. A rough cut up to 8mm can be achieved.
